The Particles Movement

An interactive installation designed for the course 'Multimedia Communications' of the Cinema and Media Engineering department at the Polytechnic University of Turin.

Interfaces:        Kinect – Isadora – nimate

01 — Context

Relationships are always complicated, but human contact is essential.
Loneliness in many cases involves dullness, monotony and a gesture is enough to break it. The movement encompasses an action not only physical but also social.

02 — Users

The subjects involved are the technician, two expert performers who will initially present the work to users, who will then interface with it in pairs. The work is controlled through the movement of the body, captured by the interface: a Kinect device.

Time is determined: from the opening scene we arrive, through the narration, to the final scene. The work remains inactive until the initial actor enters the scene. The physical space is made up of technical equipment (computer, projector, Kinect), and a wall for the projection of the artificial space.

04 — Interface

The interface activates the work by detecting the user, defines the space, and dictates the time: it is only thanks to it that you can continue the journey. The system can be easily modified and implemented in other contexts.
